Who Builds Your Architecture? Exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago

2016

Filed under:

Research, Design, Books

Exhibition linking the global cities of Chicago, New York, Istanbul, and Doha through a network of architecture firms, engineering and other consultants, and a vast population of unseen labor. Relationships between design, manufacturing, and construction operate within a global network of knowledge transfer, manufacturing, and labor—people and materials moving around the world, often in uneven and unequal ways. Installed at the Art Institute of Chicago (an earlier version was installed for the 2014 Istanbul Architecture Biennial and a later version installed in 2019 at Boston Architectural College). Collaborative work with WBYA? Graphics by MTWTF.
